Today is the first day of the Advent Season.
I have prepared the Advent wreath and it is on our dining room table ready for the first candle to be lit tomorrow.
Advent is a time of waiting and let us be honest, we don’t like to wait, for anything. However, some things are worth waiting for. Hear the words from the prophet Isaiah, chapter 40, verses 1-8.
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: the grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever.
God never forgets His people. God keeps His promises.
So in these days leading up to the Christmas Season let us STOP*LOOK*LISTEN.
STOP! Take time to prepare for Christmas. Don’t allow the advertising hype to hurry you through this time of preparation.
LOOK! Search the scriptures. Read God’s promises. Meditate on His Word. Learn what God did for His people in the past and know that He can do the same today.
LISTEN! Be still and know. God wants a relationship with you. When was the last time you really listened for God to speak to you? For that to happen you need to get in a quiet place and WAIT.
